About China Market Guide

Your Independent, On-The-Ground
China Sourcing Guide

China Market Guide was created to help global small and medium-sized buyers navigate the complex world of Chinese wholesale markets and manufacturing — without the language barrier, scam risk, or middleman markup. We write in plain English, no jargon, no hidden commissions.

Our Mission

"Make reliable, independent information about China sourcing accessible to every small business buyer — regardless of budget or language ability."

Before China Market Guide, sourcing from China was a black box for most small importers. You could either pay a $500/month retainer to a sourcing agent, or roll the dice on Alibaba and hope for the best. The 99% of buyers with small budgets got stuck with middlemen, scams, or incomplete information.

We built this platform to fix that. We share the same on-the-ground information that $500/month agents charge for — for free, in plain English.

Who We Are

China Market Guide is run by a small, independent team of 4 writers and researchers based in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Yiwu. Combined, we have 15+ years of first-hand experience working with Chinese factories, visiting wholesale markets, and helping overseas buyers source products.

  • 📍 100% based inside China — Yiwu, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou offices. We visit the markets and factories we write about.
  • 🗣️ Native English + Native Chinese bilingual team. Every guide is cross-edited by native speakers of both languages to ensure accuracy.
  • 🏭 Real factory visits every month. We don't just copy-paste from Chinese blogs — we go on-site and verify everything with our own eyes.
  • 🤝 Former sourcing agents & quality inspectors on staff who know all the tricks, traps, and shortcuts of the trade.

Our Editorial Process: How We Create Each Guide

Every published guide goes through this 6-step process before it goes live. No exceptions.

  1. Topic research via real buyer questions. We source 80% of our article topics from real questions sent in by our readers, Quora/Reddit threads, and our own reader survey data. We don't write about things nobody is searching for.
  2. Pre-research & data gathering. Before writing, we pull: recent pricing data (from 1688.com + market visits), updated 2026 Chinese regulations, customs tariff schedules for the top 5 destination countries.
  3. On-the-ground visit. For Yiwu, Shenzhen, and category-specific factory guides — a team member physically visits 3+ locations, takes original photos, interviews 3-5 booth owners or factory managers, and collects physical samples.
  4. First draft + fact verification. First draft written. All numerical claims (MOQ, prices, lead times, district layouts) are double-checked against 3 independent sources (on-site observation + 1688 + Alibaba Trade Data).
  5. Independence check. A second editor reviews the piece and confirms: No supplier listed paid for placement. No links to affiliate programs are placed in the main body copy. All affiliate programs are clearly labeled at the bottom of articles.
  6. Quarterly refresh. All high-traffic guides are reviewed and updated on a fixed schedule every 90 days. Prices, MOQ numbers, opening hours, and travel info can change fast — we keep up.

Our Independence Policy & Revenue Model

🚫 What We Will NEVER Do:

  • Accept "pay to list" payments from factories, trading companies, or Yiwu booth owners in exchange for listing them as recommended.
  • Take hidden commissions, kickbacks, or referral payments from any supplier we recommend. Any supplier referral is based solely on our independent audit score.
  • Publish "sponsored guides" paid by manufacturers without clearly labeling them as SPONSORED at the top of the article.
  • Promote any product or service that we would not use ourselves for our own personal buying.

✅ How We Do Generate Revenue (To Keep The Site Free)

  • Optional paid 1:1 sourcing consultation packages. Optional service for buyers who want custom help. Paying customers get the same supplier recommendations as readers — we just do the filtering and email outreach for them.
  • Transparent affiliate links. When we recommend tools (freight forwarders, hosting providers, VPNs, inspection companies) that we ourselves use, we may receive a small affiliate commission. This never affects which tools we recommend, and all affiliate links are clearly marked.
  • Lead sharing (opt-in only). If you fill out the contact form requesting supplier referrals, we may share your request with our partner sourcing agencies who specialize in your product category. You can opt out of this by writing "OPT OUT OF PARTNER REFERRALS" in your message to us.

Full transparency promise: You can always email team@chinamarketguide.com and ask "Who paid for this content?" or "Did you get paid to recommend supplier X?" — we will answer truthfully within 48 hours, 100% of the time.
